Napier crash leaves person in critical condition

A car has burst into flames after crashing in Napier, leaving one person fighting for their life.

Police are still on the scene at the intersection of Auckland Road and York Avenue in Greenmeadows, where two cars collided around 5.20am.

Senior Sergeant Marty Edghill says officers haven't yet pieced together what happened but they know one of the cars caught fire and smashed into a lamp post.

He says two people were in the vehicles, and one is in a critical condition.
