What do the Englishes and Clarks think of the campaign so far?
The Herald decided to see the views of the alternative Clarks and Englishes to gauge the pulse of the electorate.
Helen Clark is a housewife and lifelong Labour voter from Invercargill.
"I think Helen's done a really good job, even though I get quite a bit of teasing about her down here.
"I do cleaning for one chap and he told his son in Australia he had Helen Clark coming round to tidy his house. We might have the same name, but I don't really want her job."
Dermot English, a Kingsland teacher who has had past left-wing leanings - and who just happens to be Bill's brother - says the ongoing dispute between the Government and teachers has him swinging the other way.
"I've been to a couple of things Bill English has spoken at and there's a big difference between what he says and how he's portrayed in the media.
"I thought the Fight For Life was a hell of a risk ... It showed he's got guts."
