The man accused of murdering Christchurch toddler Ihaka Paora Braxton Stokes earlier this year can be named for the first time.
Troy Kevin Taylor, a 22-year-old roofer and partner of the 15-month-old boy's mother, Mikala Stokes, lost interim name suppression yesterday, a Ministry of Justice official confirmed.
Taylor has pleaded not guilty to assaulting Ihaka on July 2 and murdering him on July 3 at their Truman Rd home.
After his arrest, a judge granted Taylor interim name suppression for just five days so that he could inform his family.
Defence counsel Phil Shamy later secured an extension. In August, the High Court refused to let interim name suppression continue.
