Name suppression for a prominent Northland man accused of a sex crime will continue for at least another two months.
The man is accused of sexual violation, a representative charge of assaulting a female and two charges of injuring with intent.
The charges relate to alleged incidents between January 1 and January 16 this year at a Whangarei property.
Crown prosecutor Phil Smith told Whangarei District Court yesterday that likely events would mean there was no need to continue name suppression. He did not detail what those events were.
Justice Venning allocated a one-day hearing on September 22 for an application for continued name suppression. A trial date is yet to be set.
