A man charged with murdering a woman on Auckland's North Shore this month will have his name suppressed until his court appearance next year.
The 33-year-old man was granted an extension of an interim name suppression order until his pre-depositions hearing on the murder charge on March 16 next year.
The man was charged with the murder of Cheryl Tuaine Pareanga in the Auckland suburb of Glenfield.
He is also charged with physically abusing her while a protection order was in place against him and wounding Kalisi Taeumau Paea with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.
Mrs Pareanga, 33, a mother of six children, was stabbed to death in an attack that began in her home and ended inside her neighbour's home.
Her elderly neighbour tried to protect her but was also stabbed.
Today the man's lawyer, Tua Saseve, said it was appropriate that name suppression continued.
In an earlier appearance, he said one of the grounds for name suppression was to protect the man's four children, aged two to 10, from further trauma.
The man was remanded in custody.
