KEY POINTS:
A 44-year-old Opotiki man was granted name suppression when he made a brief appearance in Whakatane District Court yesterday charged with murder.
The victim, Muni Rangi Sam Collier, 35, better known as Boxer, was shot dead following an altercation at a remote Toa Toa forestry block, near Motu in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, early on Saturday morning.
The accused was remanded in custody without plea and will reappear in Whakatane court tomorrow.
