KEY POINTS:
The case of a Rotorua man facing multiple child sex charges has been transferred to Masterton.
Name suppression was lifted on Robert Keith Jefferies when he appeared in Rotorua District Court before Judge Jocelyn Munro.
Jefferies, 47, has denied 17 sex charges relating to six children under the age of 12.
He has also denied one charge of assaulting a child, the Rotorua Daily Post reported.
The offences are alleged to have taken place between March 1986 and June 1999.
Police applied at this week's hearing for the case to be transferred to Masterton, where it was believed the alleged offences took place and the alleged victims still live.
Jefferies, who is on bail, is due to appear in Masterton District Court on March 24 for a pre-depositions hearing.
