NELSON - Name suppression lapsed today for two Nelson men charged with manslaughter after a helicopter pilot died in a crash near Murchison last year.
John Arthur Horrell, 55, managing director, and Ronald David Potts, 58, no occupation given, will appear in Nelson District Court on November 13 for a pre-depositions conference.
Philip Heney, 52, was killed on August 26 last year when his two-seater Robinson R22 helicopter crashed close to his Shenandoah home, 23km southwest of Murchison.
His passenger, Hamish Teddy, of Wakefield, near Nelson, survived but suffered serious leg injuries.
Police arrested Mr Horrell and Mr Potts last month and charged them with manslaughter, saying the charges related to maintenance on the helicopter.
A Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) report found the crash was the result of incorrectly followed civil aviation maintenance procedures.
