Name suppression given

Interim name suppression has been granted to a man charged with disfiguring a doctor by biting off part of his ear.

The 42-year-old man did not appear when his case was called before Judge Raoul Neave in the Christchurch District Court yesterday, because he is staying in a mental health unit.
