KEY POINTS:
A doctor has been granted interim name suppression after appearing in Palmerston North District Court today on a stabbing charge.
The doctor turned himself in to police on Monday after a fellow doctor was stabbed in the chest at the Palmerston North Hospital.
The victim suffered stab wounds to the left chest area which required stitches.
The attack is alleged to have taken place during a routine team meeting.
Detective Sergeant Gary Mulligan said the man gave himself up at Palmerston North Police Station a short time after the stabbing.
Police charged him with wounding with intent.
The accused doctor was granted bail and given interim name suppression until his next appearance on May 30.
