The alleged Pukekohe rapist can still not be identified, a fortnight after a court lifted a suppression order on his name.
The 36-year-old, who police say raped and sexually abused a Pukekohe woman in her home during a five-hour ordeal in June, lost his bid to stop his name being published when he appeared in Pukekohe District Court on July 5.
At the time, Judge Sharon McAuslan said the public's right to know prevailed after the man's lawyer, Shayne Cassidy, said publication could affect his right to a fair trial.
However, his lawyer Shane Cassidy asked for interim name suppression to continue while an appeal was lodged in the High Court.
Mr Cassidy today said the High Court at Auckland had yet to set a date to hear the appeal.
The man faces charges of rape, threatening to kill, and kidnapping, after allegedly tricking his way into the 37-year-old woman's home.
He has been remanded back into custody for a depositions hearing in September.
