A man facing 12 charges of distributing an objectionable publication received interim name suppression in Masterton District Court, on Monday, because he has young children with his surname, and was remanded.
Crown prosecutor Stephanie Bishop asked that a condition of the defendant's remand be that he not have access to the internet.
"For obvious reasons," Miss Bishop said.
Acting for the defendant, lawyer Louise Elder, said the condition of no internet access would be "almost impossible" given the nature of the defendant's employment.
Ms Elder said the defendant has advised that the home computer, which he used to access the images, is now in a public part of the home. The charges relate to last year.
