KEY POINTS:
The trial in Nairobi of two men believed to have taken part in the killing of New Zealand photographer Trent Keegan has been adjourned, frustrating his family here.
Muchiri Kariuki and Amos Kamau are accused of assaulting and robbing him in the Kenyan capital on May 28.
Mr Keegan, 33, was found dead in a trench, with his laptop and cellphone missing.
The court was told last week that he died after being hit on the head from behind.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said it had an honorary consul monitoring the trial and was keeping the family here informed.
A ministry spokeswoman said it was "not appropriate" to discuss the trial with the media.
Mr Keegan's mother, Trish, who lives in New Plymouth, said she knew very little about progress in the case, but understood the trial had been adjourned until the end of the month.
"We're not hearing too much about it at all," she told NZPA.
Mr Keegan's father, Mike, said from Auckland that the two men who had appeared in court were charged with assault with violence.
"From what I understand they are the two guys that have distracted Trent while the other guy actually bashed him around," he told NZPA.
"They (the police) haven't got the other guy, nor all the camera gear and records which went missing."
Mr Keegan was on an assignment from his base in Ireland when he was killed.
The family believe his death was to do with a story he was working on in Tanzania.
