A man with a stab wound to one shoulder ended up walking into a Whangarei home early yesterday.
Police were hoping to interview the man, who went to Whangarei Hospital in an ambulance, to establish exactly where and by whom he had been injured, after he had received medical treatment.
The alarm was raised about 7.40am when police were called to a house off Taraire Cres. Detective Sergeant Dave Wilkinson said the 30-year-old Whangarei man suffered non-life threatening injuries and arrived at the house on foot.
It's believed he knew the home owners but police were unsure where the man had come from. Officers seized items including bloodied clothing. Mr Wilkinson said if anyone had information about the stabbing or had seen the man on his way to the house to contact police on Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
