Police are seeking a mystery man seen standing on a central North Island highway near a home where three people died in a house fire.
Katie Rose Bruce and her son Ash baby died in the blaze that broke out in the early hours of March 17 on a dairy farm in Rangitaiki, a tiny town on the Napier-Taupo Rd about 30km southeast of Taupo in March. Bruce's partner and Ash's father, Scott Millar, died later in hospital.
Today police appealed for the person who was seen on the side of SH5 near the Rangitaiki Tavern that Friday morning or anyone who may have stopped to help him between 1-3am, to come forward.
It was understood the man pulled over on the side of the highway, possibly after his car suffered engine problems.
Police said they were now in the final stages of the investgation into the triple fatality.
