When the music presenter's not being taught by Ellie Goulding how to body roll, having a drink with Reece Mastin or chatting to John Newman, he enjoys exploring the Waitakeres and hanging out at his favourite bars and cafes.
Take a look at some of his favourite weekend spots.
Brunching ... Go to Circus Circus in Mt Eden and order their home-made hash browns with poached eggs and streaky bacon. If the night before was a big one, that dish is your cure!
Loving ... Spending the day in the Waitakere Ranges at the Cascade Falls. There are all types of walks out there and its only a 30-minute drive to ditch the hustle and bustle, embrace your inner hippie and breathe in that native bush air.
Trying ... Everyone is talking about Burger Burger; I definitely feel outside the loop so I'll have to head there soon.
Drinking ... Sometimes after work, the Juice crew heads up the road to The Windsor Castle. In the winter they brew an amazing mulled wine but seeing as we are coming into summer, grab a coconut martini or Corona and head out the back into the Cabana bar.
Dining ... Ponsonby Food Court does the trick for me. Nothing like a good Chinese smorgasbord. Yes, I've been told I have very classy taste.
Shopping ... I'm a label basher so when it comes to fashion you'll find me at Needle and Threads in Ponsonby. At the moment Sly Guild has a crazy range out that I've had my eyes on ... just waiting on payday.
Anticipating ... Northern Bass. I need live music to bring in my New Year. My mates and I are heading to Northern Bass because the line-up's great, it's only two hours out of Auckland and it's cheaper than Rhythm and Vines!
Evenings ... Saturday always involves a few drinks with the flatties.
If we are not having mates over at ours we will be up the hill kicking things off at Freeman and Grey. If you're having a big one, grab a Long Island Ice Tea. Just don't buy more than one - one is all you'll need.
Spending summer ... Back home in Matata, Whakatane. If you are driving through Matata and have a spare 30 minutes, grab fish and chips from Aunty's cafe and head to the Matata domain. The Pacific ocean is a stone's throw away plus you're eating the best F&C you will ever have. Two key components for a typical Kiwi summer's day.
