Just one peek behind a beautifully designed Polka Chocolate wrapper and you'll be left drooling. Jane Mason, the woman behind the New Zealand-made boutique chocolate brand uses organic, fairly traded cacao beans, which are then made into bars in small batches with seasonal flavours such as crystallised rose (Mason hand picks the roses from her family garden) and coconut chip then hand wrapped in paper in limited-edition designs. Take a look at her weekend plans, when she's not busy running her business or dreaming up the latest flavour.
Brunching... I love L'oeuf for its understated charm. My favourite dish is The Russian. Orphans Kitchen is fun for breakfast I recently had an amazing cold-pressed apple and rhubarb juice that looked magical as the juice was in two layers - dusky pink rhubarb juice on top.
Drinking... Golden Dawn has always been a favourite. However, I haven't had any big nights recently as I'm pregnant so I've been hibernating. My ultimate is making indulgent cocktails for friends, so looking forward to drinks after the baby arrives.
Dining... The Engine Room is always a treat and Ostro is amazing on a beautiful day. However, my favourites are the more low-key options. The Refreshment Room in Titirangi is great for an early dinner on the deck with our dog Beau after an adventure out west. Yuzu on Ponsonby Rd is great if you want super-casual and quiet Japanese dinner or lunch.
