Relaxing with family is what makes summer special for fashion designer Juliette Hogan, who will head up North to a family bach over Christmas to take time out from her busy year, with barbecues, fishing and sunsets.
Where I'm Going:
I'm heading up to Woolleys Bay, which is the most beautiful place ever. Mum started camping up there with her family when she was 14, then her parents built a place and Mum and Dad built a place next to theirs a few years back. We have been holidaying here forever and I really do love it so much. I try to get up there as much as possible during the year. All the immediate family will be there for Christmas Day including my precious niece and nephews (6 months, 2 and 4), then over the next couple of weeks we all come and go depending on what else is happening. What I love most about it is that it's just so relaxed. Our place is on the top of a hill overlooking the bay and I can just sit and watch the view all day long. I love spending time with my family, I love the way (and what) we eat up there. I would be lost with out my time spent up there.
Where I'm Eating:
Woolleys is a little secluded beach up North and doesn't have a huge amount going on around it - so I'll be eating barbecues every night that Dad has cooked. He had a barbecue made especially after a trip to Chile years back, after falling in love with the way they cook their food. He creates the most amazing meals and is often cooking for 20 or so people a night. Apart from Dad's 'restaurant', there is a fresh fish market every Saturday at the Tutukaka marina, where you can buy the most beautiful fresh fish (for fish sandwiches at lunchtime) and smoked fish.
Where I'm Drinking:
On the deck overlooking the ocean and on the beach watching the sunset.
What I'm Wearing:
My favourite summer frock is the Juliette Hogan "Jessie" silk slip. I have it in four colours, and will be wearing them all summer long. It's the perfect shaped slip, with just the right amount of shape for it to be flattering but loose enough to be so easy to wear.
