The show will go on.
After performing at Vector Arena on Monday, many of the performers from the I Love the Islands Samoa relief concert will take the show around the country.
Seeing a run on tickets to the Auckland gig, organisers decided to stage performances in Christchurch, Dunedin, New Plymouth and Wellington, and have picked up a few local acts on the way.
Hip-hop stars Savage and Scribe lost family and their villages in the disastrous tsunami that hit Upolu two weeks ago and, in response, teamed up with Dawn Raid, Oscar Kightley and Ole Maiava to put on a concert that will provide relief their people.
Hosted by Kightley, the line-up now includes Neil and Tim Finn, Dave Dobbyn, Bic Runga, Savage, Scribe, Hollie Smith, Elemeno P, Nesian Mystik and the Opensouls. Many of the performers also have links to the islands. All are giving their time free of charge.
It is expected the Vector concert will be a sell-out.
Funds raised from all the concerts will go towards the Samoa Tsunami 2009 Appeal Charitable Trust.
