A Christchurch musician will today appeal his conviction for assaulting his four-year-old son.
James Louis Mason was last year found guilty of punching his son in the face and pulling his ear in December 2007.
Mason publicly complained about the original warning he received from the police, saying he had only flicked the boy on the ear. He was later charged with assaulting a child.
He will represent himself in the Court of Appeal in Wellington today.
