City and regional museums which house collections of national significance will be able to draw from a $2.5 million fund this year.
While the Government maintains that local communities should maintain regional museums, it has budgeted $5 million next year and $7.5 million in 2003 to help to house significant collections when museums have exhausted other ways to get money.
