Convicted double-murderer Scott Watson is under investigation following claims he sent a teenage girl cellphone photos of his genitals.
Corrections acting southern regional manager Paul Rushton said he received an letter from the girl's parents on Tuesday, alleging Watson had sent their 15-year-old daughter disturbing messages and picture texts, The Press reported today.
The letter writers did not identify themselves because they were "terrified of any retaliation from Mr Watson", the letter said.
It said the girl's parents found pictures of Watson on her phone, including three pictures of his penis.
When the girl asked Watson not to contact her again, saying she would go to police, he started threatening her, the letter said.
Inspector Rick Jury of Christchurch Police said they were helping with the investigation.
Watson was disciplined last year for using a mobile phone in prison to send suggestive text messages and offensive photographs to a woman.
