KEY POINTS:
A convicted murderer originally paroled to a house next door to his victim's daughter has been recalled to prison and is now in custody.
The man's placement, first revealed in the Herald, angered the murder victim's family and it emerged today that two subsequent moves had him placed near the workplace of his victim's daughter and near the friend of another victim.
Parole Board spokeswoman Sonja de Friez confirmed the man had been recalled on the basis of undue risk.
"He was released on parole and part of that parole release means he is carefully monitored and at any signs of risk he is recalled back to prison," she said.
"In around two weeks time a hearing will be held to ascertain the level of risk and decide whether or not he should go back to prison or be rereleased on parole."
She said the recall related to conditions on the original release decision to release him, which were there to assess risk and protect the community.
