The family of murdered South Korean backpacker Jae Hyeon Kim were yesterday to visit the West Coast site where his body was recovered.
Tasman police district crime manager John Winter said Mr Kim's mother and brother arrived in Nelson on Monday. He told the Nelson Mail he was to travel with the family to Westport and they would visit the scene where Mr Kim's body was found in dense bush south of Charleston in October.
A private funeral service for Mr Kim was planned for Thursday afternoon at Marsden House in Nelson.
Mr Winter said the family would then travel to Wellington for the sentencing on Friday of a man, whose name is suppressed, who pleaded guilty to murdering Mr Kim.
