Windows were smashed and walls were tagged at the family home of a murdered Manawatu farmer last year, but police say there is no connection between the two crimes.
Scott Guy, 31, was found dead by a neighbour in the driveway of the couple's home on Aorangi Rd, south of Feilding, about 7am on July 8. He had been expected for morning milking and police say he was shot after stepping from his farm vehicle.
So far police have no leads.
But police spokeswoman Kim Perks confirmed media reports that in January 2009, police received a complaint about some serious damage done to the Guy family home.
Ms Perks said windows were smashed, outside walls were tagged and the interior was vandalised.
She said no one was arrested for the vandalism.
"The house was empty, it was in the middle of being built," Ms Perks said.
She said there was also a call made to police about a suspicious fire which broke out in a home that was about to be moved off the property in October 2008.
Ms Perks said the old house was on a trailer and when the fire started.
She said no arrests were made in relation to the fire either.
Ms Perks said there is no suggestion that either the fire or the vandalism is linked to the murder of Mr Guy.
About 1000 people attended the funeral for Mr Guy, held last Friday in Feilding.
