Police have named the Christchurch woman found murdered in her home last week.
She was 62-year-old retiree Gaynor Alice White, Acting Detective Inspector Dave Long said.
Ms White, was found in her home in the suburb of Huntsbury, in the Cashmere Hills, on Friday.
Police said a weapon was used in her death and they were probably looking at a robbery gone wrong.
A 22-year-old man was later arrested in connection with the homicide. Mr Long said yesterday that the arrested man would appear in Christchurch District Court today charged with burglary of the woman's home and the unlawful taking of her car.
He would also face counts in respect of other unrelated matters.
