Murder victim Antony Way was farewelled in an emotional ceremony in Nelson this afternoon.
Mr Way, 33, and friend Tanya Simpson, 31, were found dead in a Gold Coast unit last week. Ms Simpson's five-year-old daughter, Kyla, was found dead alongside her father, former Hamilton man Paul Rogers, in a car in northern New South Wales later the same day.
Police believe Rogers stabbed Mr Way and Ms Simpson to death before abducting Kyla and taking her to northern NSW, where they died together from carbon monoxide poisoning in his car.
Today, more than 300 people attended a service in Nelson at which Mr Way was remembered as a man of integrity, humour and honesty and someone who loved rugby, music and the gym, the Nelson Mail reported.
Mr Way's brother, Andre, and police officer friend Kelvin Heiford brought his ashes home to Nelson on Wednesday following Monday's packed service on the Gold Coast where he had lived there for eight years.
At a service on the Gold Coast yesterday for Kyla and Ms Simpson, the pair were described as a "little princess" and her "caring and beautiful" mother.
Gold Coast police say a custody dispute was at the centre of the triple murder and suicide.
