A trial date has been set for the pensioner accused of murdering a Turangi man in 1979.
Menzies Reginald John Hallett, 71, will fight murder charges against him at a two-week trial in the High Court on April 22.
Hallett, whose attendance was excused in the High Court at Rotorua this morning, last month entered a plea of not guilty through his lawyer.
The Crown alleges Hallett murdered Rodney Tahu outside his petrol station in Turangi.
Tahu, who murder remained a cold case until late last year when Hallett was charged, was found with gunshot wounds to his head and shoulder but died shortly after arriving at Taumarunui Hospital.
