KEY POINTS:
Police have launched a murder inquiry after two bodies were found in a Whangarei house today.
Sergeant David Robertson of northern police communications told NZPA neighbours had found the man and woman about 10am in the Forth Avenue house.
"Two people are dead and as a result a homicide inquiry was launched," Mr Robertson said.
He added that police were not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
He would not say how the pair died, but said a gun was not involved.
It was not known how the man and woman knew each other, Mr Robertson said.
