A 28-year-old woman has been charged with murder after a man was stabbed to death at a house in Gisborne yesterday.
Douglas Leslie Tupaea, 29, was found with chest wounds when emergency services arrived at the Stout St address at 6am.
Tupaea and the accused were known to each other, police said.
Neighbours believed there was a party at the house on Friday night.
"It's the sort of place where there are parties all the time," said one.
The cause of Tupaea's death will not be confirmed until a post-mortem examination is carried out tomorrow morning, said Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Scott.
The woman is in custody and due to appear before Gisborne District Court, also tomorrow.
