KEY POINTS:
A woman has been charged with murder after she allegedly drove a car about 20km with a man clinging to the bonnet of her car.
Cindy Marcia Fairburn, 37, also known as Cyndi Henry and Cyndi Manser, appeared in New Plymouth District Court yesterday charged with the murder of Darin Paul Maxwell, 42, on August 6, The Taranaki Daily News reports.
She has also been charged with dangerous driving causing injury.
It is alleged Fairburn, mother of five, drove from Inglewood to the outskirts of New Plymouth - a distance of nearly 20km - with Mr Maxwell clinging to the bonnet of her car.
It is also alleged that she drove intentionally into the path of an oncoming car to kill her ex-partner and the father of one of her children.
The investigation into the death was stalled because Fairburn was critically injured in the crash. She had recently been released from hospital after losing part of one of her legs.
Yesterday Justice of the Peace Bob Moffat remanded Fairburn on bail for a pre-depositions hearing on April 17.
