Murder accused Antonie Dixon said he regularly heard God's voice, a psychiatrist called by Dixon's defence told the High Court in Auckland today.
"I thought I was the third one down -- God, Jesus, Tony," Dixon had said, Dr Karl Jansen told the court.
Dixon had first heard God's voice when he was nine and God had told him what the satellites were up to. He heard God's voice once a week.
Dixon is charged with murder and attempted murder after a samurai sword attack on two women in Pipiroa near Thames on the Hauraki Plains in January 2003.
The crown alleges after the sword attack he drove to Auckland where he shot dead James Te Aute and took another man hostage before surrendering to police.
After his arrest and when he was in the Mason Clinic in Auckland which deals with psychiatric patients, Dixon had continually asked to go back to Mt Eden Prison.
Dr Jansen said Dixon had said he wanted capital punishment to be restored and he was looking forward to being killed.
"Get me an electric chair, I'll pay for it," Dixon had said, Dr Jansen told the court.
He believed he was under constant surveillance and spoke incessantly and constantly paced in his room at the clinic.
He became increasingly threatening and said he would have gang members waiting outside the clinic for some members of staff.
The trial is continuing.
