A man charged with the stabbing murder of a woman on Auckland's North Shore on Monday was today remanded in custody for psychiatric assessment.
The 33-year-old man was also granted interim name suppression, when he appeared briefly in North Shore District Court.
He will return to court on December 22.
The man is accused of murdering Cheryl Tuaine Pareanga in the suburb of Glenfield.
Ms Pareanga, 33, a mother of six, was fatally stabbed in an attack that began at her house in Bruce Road, and ended inside her neighbour's home.
Her neighbour, who tried to protect her, suffered a stab wound that needed stitches.
