A 64-year-old Tauranga builder accused of murdering his wife has been deemed fit to stand trial.
Rex Leverett John Prole briefly reappeared in Tauranga District Court this morning.
His lawyer Glenn Dixon told Judge Peter Rollo there were no matters arising from a second psychiatric report, but police had been granted an extension of time for the filing of the formal written statements.
These statements are required before Prole can be formally committed to trial.
At Prole's last court appearance on August 20 Mr Dixon sought a further psychiatric assessment as he said he was not satisfied the first conclusively determined whether his client was fit to enter a plea to the charge or stand trial.
