Murder accused denies charge

A man charged with murder after a woman died in west Auckland last night has denied the charge in court.

Shane Millar, 30, briefly appeared in Waitakere District Court today on a charge of murdering beneficiary Susan Ann Marriner, 46, after police were called to a Henderson house last night and found her body.

In court lawyer Guyon Foley said Millar denied the charge.

Millar was remanded in custody for another appearance later this month.

Police last night spoke to several people at the house before it was cordoned off. Millar was taken for further questioning then charged with murder.

Ms Marriner's body remained at the house overnight while police stood guard outside.

Soon after first light forensic experts arrived at the house and her body was removed for a post mortem.

Police refused to release details of how Ms Marriner died or the circumstances of her death.
