KEY POINTS:
A man charged with murdering a woman after he allegedly crashed his car into hers was brought into court in a wheelchair for a brief appearance today.
Tony Allen Worrell, 49, appeared in Manukau District Court today on a charge of murdering Katie Powles, 26, on June 3.
She died when her car and Worrell's car were involved in a collision at Karaka, south of Auckland. Another driver was also badly hurt when his car was also hit.
Worrell was also charged with attempting to murder Brett Stuart Robinson, 42, and faced six additional charges of assault by using his car as a weapon.
Police said those charges related to the drivers of four other vehicles it was alleged Worrell aimed his vehicle at, and Mr Robinson's two sons who were passengers in his car.
Worrell was also hurt in the accident and has been in a wheelchair since he left hospital.
A bail application will be heard on Friday.
