Mum returns home alone

A Samoan woman who abandoned her baby after giving birth on an Auckland-bound plane has been deported.

The Immigration Department confirmed to the Dominion Post that Karolina Maika, 29, left for Apia a week yesterday without her daughter Grace.

A CYF spokeswoman said Grace would remain in Wellington with extended family.
