"It was just amazing, we had a huge cross section of the community," Mrs Brazendale said.
Mayor Ron Mark and other councillors attended the meeting and had agreed to put an item about possible options for the park in the annual plan.
The trust concept of a multisports ground is not final and Mrs Brazendale said they were encouraging opinion and submissions from the public.
"Nothing is yet set in concrete. We are wanting to find what is the best use for the park in the future.
"We want people to be visionary and collaborative and for sports to come together."
The trust's Facebook page gives some background to their concept for the sports park:
"The park is already a sportsground and home to Wairarapa United, Carterton AFC and the Carterton Squash Club. However, the facilities are in urgent need of an upgrade.
"Carrington Bowling & Croquet Club want to expand their playing greens to increase membership, grow the sport in the wider community and host more visiting clubs and tournaments."
Mrs Brazendale said the overall aim was to have a community sports hub with shared facilities, that each code could use - such as changing rooms.
She outlined the benefits of taking away administration responsibilities from sports codes to "allow people to get on with their sports and with coaching".
A feasibility study has been completed - the plan is to gain funding from sponsorship and Wairarapa trusts and offset costs by using sports clubs with existing premises.
"It would be great if council got involved," Mrs Brazendale said. "The complex would have wider economic benefits for the region.
"It's handy to town and the railway station, the camp ground for accommodation and it's in the middle of four streets."
