THERE'S less than three weeks to go until Wellington's favourite multisport event, the Kathmandu Crazyman, and once again there's a Wairarapa contingent coming out to play.
Terry Blackburn, of Masterton, who competed for several years and Tim Carpenter will be competing as individuals with at least two teams also in the line-up.
Blackburn said yesterday one team comprised kayaker Rod Sutherland, runner Tony Price and mountain biker Steven Brown, while the other had kayaker was Eric Barber, runner Lesley Graham and mountainbiker Kevin Levers.
He said they would be up against some of the best multisporters in New Zealand and arguably the best in the world including two-time Coast to Coast winner and adventure racing world champion Richard Ussher, who would have Coast to Coast runner-up and New Zealand series leader Gordon Walker hard on his heels.
The event starts with a 12km kayak on Wellington Harbour (average time 1hour 20min) followed by a really tough 18km run around the Eastbourne Hills and ending up in Wainuiomata (average time1:50min). and to "finish up or finish us off" there's a 36km mountain bike along the Eastern skyline above the Hutt City (average time 2:20min).
