Multiple stabbings in Masterton brawl

Gang members have been implicated in an fight which left multiple people with stab wounds or minor injuries in Masterton.

Police were called to an altercation involving 20 people on the corner of Oban and Church Streets in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Two men, aged 18 and 23, were left with stab wounds and a 25-year-old woman received minor injuries.

None of the injuries were life threatening.

The fight was followed by what police suspect was a connected molotov cocktail attack that did moderate damage to a Church St house.

No-one was home at the time, police said.

Detective Sergeant Rob Rackliff said gang members were present at original altercation.

Both of the attacks were life threatening, he said.

"Although no one received life threatening injuries as a result of these two incidents, they both had the potential to result in someone's death, which is of very serious concern to police."
