A teenager who mugged an elderly Flaxmere woman for $5 and milk has tried to make things right, a court was told yesterday.
Ninety-five-year-old Elsie Jones was knocked to the ground by two teenagers, aged 16 and 18, and robbed on July 9.
Roger Philip, lawyer for the 16-year-old, told
Hastings Youth Court yesterday the boy had met with Mrs Jones' daughter.
"He did try to make things right by returning the milk and money as a gift though the victim's daughter did feel this wasn't enough."
Mr Philip appealed for the case not to be moved to the district court because of the seriousness of the offence.
Judge Geoff Rea requested a report on what Mrs Jones and her family wanted and reserved his decision until September 11.
