Hadlow School students and parents took up their gumboots and spades for a day of playground landscaping that coincided with an annual charity mufti day for the Cancer Society.
Principal Michael Mercer said the working bee on Friday involved parents and students who bedded down native plants on a landscaped mound used as a platform for a flying fox.
The planting was part of an $85,000 revamp of seating, play areas and play equipment at the school led by Friends of Hadlow, and had coincided with a mufti day that was held as a charity drive for the Cancer Society.
"It's the one day they can bring their scooters to school and don't have to wear a stuffy uniform.
"Ours are lucky children who don't necessarily know hardship, so the day for the Cancer Society is also part of the ethos of our school about giving back."
