KEY POINTS:
The second of two teenagers charged with the manslaughter of Tauranga man Scott Finn in an illegal street race has appeared in court and been banned from driving, except to go to work.
The 16-year-old, whose name is automatically suppressed due to his age, was remanded on bail when he appeared in the Tauranga Youth Court yesterday.
Judge Christopher Harding imposed several bail conditions, including that the boy live with his parents, not consume alcohol or drugs, and refrain from associating with witnesses to the street race.
The boy was also banned from driving, unless it was to get to or from his job as a mechanic, and was given a curfew of 8pm to 6am.
Police allege he was the driver of a Honda Integra which was racing a Mitsubishi VR4 when the VR4 hit and killed Mr Finn - the race starter - at up to 160km/h.
The 16-year-old has been jointly charged with the VR4's 18-year-old driver, who was bailed with similar conditions when he appeared at the Tauranga District Court on Saturday.
Police said both boys were facing manslaughter charges because they were parties to the death of Mr Finn, 20, at Mt Maunganui on Saturday.
Mr Finn was killed in front of at least 50 young people who had gathered on the industrial road to watch the race at 1am.
