Four climbers who were to scale Mt Cook-Aoraki to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first ascent of Mt Everest were tonight overdue from their climb.
In a statement, Timaru police said the party was experienced and there were no fears for their safety at present.
It was believed they had taken shelter due to deteriorating weather.
Police and the Department of Conservation would review the situation tomorrow.
