Mt Eden school closed as man seen with gun

A man has been taken into police custody after an armed offenders' squad callout in Auckland.

Police were called to a property in Valley Road, Mt Eden, after reports of a man brandishing a shotgun just after 8am.

Cordons were put in place and a nearby school was shut for a time while police dealt with the situation.

The cordons are expected to be lifted shortly. No shots were fired during the incident.
