KEY POINTS:
Politicians are to get pay rises, backdated to July, from the Remuneration Authority.
TV3 News reported last night that the authority, which sets MPs pay rates, had made decisions about the rises and would announce them in the next few weeks.
Prime Minister Helen Clark's pay will go up from $360,000 to $375,000, TV3 said. That equates to a 4.2 per cent rise.
National Leader John Key, ministers and Speaker Margaret Wilson's pay will go from $225,000 to $233,000 (up 3.6 per cent) and backbench MPs $122,500 to $126,000 (up 2.9 per cent).
All of the rises are backdated to July 7.
Wages across New Zealand rose at about 3 per cent in the past year.
