KEY POINTS:
Retiring MP Paul Swain has been appointed to head internetNZ's board.
Mr Swain, who stands down from Parliament at the next election, will chair a five-strong board of directors, established as part of a structural review of internetNZ.
As former Minister of Communications and Information Technology, he implemented the Telecommunications Act 2001, establishing a regulatory regime for the New Zealand telecommunications industry.
He was also closely involved with Project Probe - an initiative to deliver broadband to provincial/rural New Zealand - and established a review of the Telecommunications Act in 2004.
