Firefighters doused a blaze involving a lawnmower at the Red Star Rugby Club grounds in Colombo Rd early Saturday morning.
A fire communications spokesman said the lawnmower had been reportedly ablaze on the pitch in front of the grandstand soon after 6.30am.
Police also had been at the scene when the fire was doused but could not be reached yesterday for comment.
