GlaxoSmithKline has appointed Ron Murray as head of professional relations - a new role developed to expand the company's resource in the professional relations area. He is an experienced public relations practitioner and communications specialist who worked as a public relations consultant for Glaxo Wellcome in 1999, before taking up a full-time contract as communications manager at South Auckland Health.

FESCO Lines New Zealand has appointed David Finlayson as its regional sales representative for the Bay of Plenty and Waikato. He is based in the company's new office in Tauranga and represents all far eastern shipping company services.

Aston Moss has been appointed director human resources for Woolworths (NZ), succeeding Paul Walsh who is leaving the company. Aston has been a member of Woolworths' human resources team for over three years, progressing from learning and development manager to manager human resources and now director. He first joined the company in 1985 as a student and in 1992 became a management trainee. He was a project manager on the business development team and a category manager before moving into human resources.

Charlene Fairnie has joined Norris Ward McKinnon as a solicitor in its resource management and civil litigation teams. Charlene is currently finishing her Masters in Law at the University of Waikato.

Rob Hart has joined its business team as a solicitor. He completed his law degree at the University of Waikato with first class honours in 1997 and was admitted to the bar that same year.

Michael Roots has joined its family law team. He has been practising in Family Law since his admission to the bar in 1998, but previously had 15 years in education, as a primary school teacher, resource teacher of reading and school principal.

Chris Morris has been appointed general manager of Structured Data Systems Ltd. He has been with SDS Ltd for the past eight years.

PeopleSoft has announced the appointment of Alan Hyde to the role of director of CRM, PeopleSoft Australia and New Zealand. Based in Sydney, Hyde will be responsible for all sales activity for PeopleSoft's CRM business for ANZ, with the objective of delivering strong market share growth.
