KEY POINTS:
* Nga Pae o te Maramatanga, the Maori Centre of Research Excellence, has appointed Dr Tracey McIntosh as its new joint director. McIntosh is a senior lecturer and researcher in sociology at The University of Auckland and from 2004-2006 she was the Associate Dean (Equity) in the Faculty of Arts and has been Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor (EO) since 2005. She has lectured at the University since 1999, and in 2004-2005 was a Fulbright Visiting Lecturer in New Zealand Studies at Georgetown, Washington D.C.
* Market Research company Research Solutions has announced six new appointments, expanding the company's research team to resource its ongoing growth. Joining as senior researcher, Grant Storry takes responsibility for further developing the company's qualitative team. He was formerly head of qualitative at TNS. Galina Mitchelhill, previously business unit director at TNS, expands the company's senior client service team, as a senior researcher with responsibility for growing the business. Michelle Craik has been appointed as development manager and will be working with the data processing and analysis team. Craik was formerly head of data processing and analytics at TNS. Jing Zhao, previously with TNS as a new researcher, has been appointed as researcher, working to support the senior team with analytics and reporting. Bev Foden has also been appointed as researcher. Foden comes from England where she last worked as market research manager for Pfizer.
* Rashi Dixit recently joined Research Solutions as a researcher. Previously at Colmar Brunton, Rashio has a wide range of research experience, with experience researching the FMCG, electricity, insurance and telecommunications industries.
* International property advisers DTZ have appointed Colin West to the position of managing director of their New Zealand operations. Hailing from Australia, West has over 25 years experience in the property industry. He will replace current managing director, Ross Pickett, who will retire from the company in early 2008.
* Cavalier Travel and Pengelly's World Travel has appointed Sarndra Stephens as their new business development manager for the Auckland area. Stephens offers a strong background in new business development and corporate travel account management.
* Sheffield Ltd has appointed Julia Stones to lead the recruitment solutions team in Auckland. Julia immigrated to New Zealand in 2005 from the UK where she was a director of a global recruitment consultancy. She has more than 20 years' experience in human resources, including recruitment and HR consultancy. New members of the recruitment solutions team in Auckland are Angela Vale, who will specialise in technical and operations roles; Roslyn Bourke, who joins the executive leasing team, and Stuart Almao who, as talent manager, will focus on strategic workforce planning.
* Mark Toner has been appointed partner at MGF Webb. A specialist regulatory and competition law lawyer, Toner has a unique blend of legal, regulatory, policy and economic expertise. He has significant experience in large complex regulatory proceedings for clients in New Zealand, London and Brussels across a range of industries including telecommunications, aviation, energy and internet.
* Keith McLaughlin, the former managing director of Baycorp Holdings, is to become the managing director of Finzsoft Solutions Ltd.
* Olivia Tooby has been appointed to the position of client services manager at Frog Recruitment.Prior to joining Frog, Tooby contracted with ASB Bank recruiting staff for the branch network across New Zealand. Danya Williams has been appointed to the position of marketing and communications developer. Prior to joining Frog, she carried out marketing and advertising for Barfoot & Thompson. Keri McAdam heads up Frog Recruitment's contract and temporary services specialist division. She has worked in the recruitment industry for many years managing a diverse client portfolio across a wide range of industry sectors.
* Public relations and communications consultancy Creo has strengthened its Auckland and Wellington consulting resources. Its Auckland team has been joined by Julia Bell, a Waikato University honours graduate; John Redwood, a former Baldwin Boyle consultant responsible for Fonterra's media liaison, and Lisa van Beurden, a technical and environmental specialist. The firm's Wellington team has been expanded with the arrival of Steve Corbett, previously NZ Post external communications manager and a communications adviser to Maritime New Zealand. Intern Dave Ralph, who recently graduated from Victoria University, has also moved into a full-time consultant role.
* Rebecca Clarke joins Drake New Zealand Ltd as a recruitment consultant within Drake Personnel. Rebecca brings with her six years experience as a generalist recruiter and she has been successful in providing temporary and permanent recruitment solutions to a range of industries, up to middle management level.
* The Directors of Open Systems Specialists (OSS) have appointed Donald Bowie to the role of general manager. He was previously at TVNZ, where he held the role of general manager corporate services.
